So lately I’ve been obsessed with two things, this amazing photo of Alber Elbaz, Creative Director and Mastermind behind my favorite label, Lanvin; and these glitzy shellacked frames we just got in from our recent Las Vegas conference.
The photo set I found while perusing Harper’s Bazaar’s website is by the infamous photographer Liu Bolin, famous for hiding in his own photographs. Here in Lost in Fashion, various designers from Elbaz and Gaultier to the Valentino duo Maria Grazia Chiuri & Pierpaolo Piccioli are concealed in their own works studios. The results are fascinating and beautiful and I’m dying to have them all on my walls.
My first instinct was to go for the gusto, play up the thin cream boarder around the photograph with an even darker cream/grey mat, and make it all Lanvin opulence with the gold version of our new moulding.
For a cleaner and more modern look, I switched out to a thick white mat, and the black lacquer. The first would look fabulous in any bourgeois room with refined furnishings, while the latter is best suited for white walled minimalism or a rustic brick. Either way, it’s a fantastic piece that I personally can’t wait to get my hands on.
Which to you prefer?
